Improving La Liga side Atletico Madrid are reportedly interested in signing Mikel Arteta, and the ex-Real Sociedad man is reportedly interested in a move back to his homeland, despite signing a new five year deal only last summer.

Arteta, who has also played for Barcelona B, PSG and Rangers, told Spanish newspaper El Confidencial: "Some day I will end up at Atletico. It is a club that I have always liked and where I would like to play.



"In football, projects finish and start when one least expects it. As well as that, in my life everything has always gone very quickly.



"If someone had told me at the start of my career that at 25 I would already have played in three different countries, I would have said they were mad."
