Blues give Bruce permission

17 November 2007 - 11:28

Steve Bruce is set to become Wigan Athletic's new coach next week. Birmingham have reportedly given Wigan permission to talk to Bruce, who himself is believed to be keen to make the move. Bruce is currently on holiday, considering his future.

  • Fabrizio Romano updates on Nicolas Jackson's future at Chelsea
  • Arsenal suffer big injury blow ahead of Fulham game
  • Blues chairman David Gold, co-owner David Sullivan and managing director Karren Brady held an emergency board meeting this afternoon to discuss Wigan's approach.

The former Manchester United skipper is expected to be confirmed as Wigan's new boss early next week ending his spell at Birmingham.

Bruce has been continuously linked with a move away from Birmingham, and Wigan will give him a chance to remain in the Premiership.

Bruce will treble his weekly earnings - currently around £15,000 - by making the move to the JJB Stadium on a four-year contract.
