Dortmund injury woes

10 December 2013 - 10:46

German side Borussia Dortmund have added Nuri Sahin and Sven Bender to their long list of injuries this season which includes their entire first-choice defensive set up.

  • Chelsea midfielder looking forward to London derby vs Spurs
  • Arsenal in the front row to sign Dutch striker

  • To add insult to these injuries, the team lost 1-0 against second place Bayer Leverkusen, their third in four games. This puts then in third place behind champions Bayern and Sammy Hyypia's Leverkusen side.

After the loss, manager Jurgen Klopp said the loss was the least of their worries with a crucial must win champions league game against Marseille is around the corner on wednesday. The number of injuries has clearly affected the confidence and the morale of last year's champions league runners-up and the manager has ruled out any signings this january.

With many of their best players strongly linked with other top European clubs, the manager will struggle to produce performances on par with the years of highly intense  that he has helped manifest in the team.

The manager has expressed confidence in his players and has assured fans that the team would get over their injury crisis and challenge for top honours in the Bundesliga.
