Sunderland target loan move for QPR keeper Cesar

10 December 2013 - 14:46

Sunderland sitting at the bottom of the Premier League with just 8 points off 15 games are desperate and pondering a move for Brazilian International Julio Cesar.

  • Confirmed Man Utd line-up vs Liverpool, Matheus Cunha starts
  • Chelsea quoted price to sign Igor Thiago
  • Sunderland boss Gus Poyet is looking to strengthen his side by adding Julio Cesar on loan.

The 34-year-old Brazilian who was instrumental despite last season's relegation was free to leave Loftus road to bolster his chances of first team action for the upcoming World Cup finals in Brazil next year. QPR would prefer a permanent transfer but Sunderland boss Poyet wants to push through a loan deal until the end of the season and take over Cesar’s wages.
The Black Cats have struggled this season under Poyet despite having signed 14 players in the summer transfer window courtesy of Paolo Di Canio, who was let go after a string of poor performances at the start of the season.
But Poyet said he was unsure whether he could add fresh new talent in January after the summer transfer debacle.
