Bayer Leverkusen are hoping to complete a transfer for Belgium international midfielder Kevin De Bruyne in the transfer window. The player is out of favour at Stamford Bridge.
Despite starting the season firmly in manager Jose Mourinho's plans, the 22-year-old has recently slipped down the pecking order at the Bridge and has now been linked with a move away and a loan transfer back to Germany, where he spent last season playing for Werder Bremen.
Bayer Leverkusen are the team that are most interested in De Bruyne, and the club's sporting director Rudi Voeller also confirmed that a deal could be agreed this winter: "We made no secret of our interest in Kevin De Bruyne right from last summer Regardless of our league position, we're always looking for new players.
"It's possible that we do sign somebody this winter, but then again, we could go into the second half of the season with the same team and look to do something next summer. If you do anything, then it’s got to be a top alternative to what we've already got here."
