Chelsea ready summer transfer bid for Man Utd striker Rooney

Chelsea manager Jose Mourinho wants Manchester United forward Wayne Rooney to delay the signing of a new contract at Old Trafford. The Blues want to sign the England international, but know that should the forward pen a new contract at United they will be unlikely to pay the fee required to sign him.

  • Rooney has previously been linked with a move to Chelsea last summer, but a transfer deal to the Blues fell through after his club ruled out a transfer away to Stamford Bridge.<br />

    The Blues are desperate to strengthen their squad in the January transfer window as they look to make a push for the Premier League title in the New Year. According to reports, Rooney is still open to making a move to London and has even told Manchester United that he sees his long term future away from Old Trafford.
