Al Ain striker Asamoah Gyan has apparently been linked with a return to his former club Sunderland on loan in the upcoming transfer window.
The Ghanaian International joined Al Ain on a permanent transfer in the summer of 2012 from the Black Cats, following a season-long loan deal with the UAE outfit the previous season.
Eyefootball understands that manager Gus Poyet, who is keen on adding new recruits of his own during the New Year, will make a loan move for the former Rennes star, with the Wearside management willing to offer £80k per week in wages for the player's services.
The 28-year-old is believed to be keen on proving himself at the highest stage and an agreement between the two parties is likely to end Fabio Borini's season-long loan deal from Liverpool.
Asamoah Gyan became the first ever player to score 70 goals in two-and-half seasons in the United Arab Emirates' top tier.
