Arsenal are apparently considered favourites to secure the services of Benfica midfield star Nemanja Matic in the winter transfer window.

The talented Serbian international has been the subject of transfer speculation in recent weeks with the likes of Chelsea and Manchester United keen on acquiring the player's signature in the New Year.<br />

However, recent reports claim that the Gunners have joined the bidding battle, and are considered to be planning a transfer offer for the player in a few days' time.<br />

Manager Arsene Wenger had earlier stated that he will only spend in the transfer window, if he find a 'Special Player' available to strengthen his squad.<br />

Arsenal are currently placed at the top of the Premier League after 20 games with 45 points.
