Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger coy on striker signing

05 January 2014 - 03:58

Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger is seemingly coy over signing a new striker in the winter transfer window.

  • Chelsea to move for former Arsenal goalkeeper?
  • Arsenal handed huge boost ahead of Bournemouth clash

  • The Gunners are currently linked with a move for a top-class striker following an ankle injury to Nicklas Bendtner, which will keep him out of action for atleast a month.

On asked whether the club need a new striker in January, the Frenchman insisted that the club are reliant on their main man Olivier Giroud, who is set to feature for the club in their next encounter, but could face a crisis if Walcott gets injured on a long-term.

"We are short because Theo [Walcott] is not very tall!" Wenger said. "We still have [Lukas] Podolski and [Mesut] Ozil on the bench. [Olivier] Giroud was sick, he was not injured, so for the next game he should be available".

"Of course if we lose Theo for a longer period, it is a problem."

Arsenal are top of the Premier League standings with 45 points.
