Newcastle eyeing Dutch striker

06 January 2014 - 14:46

Newcastle United are eyeing a move for Dutch striker Luuk de Jong who currently plays for German club Borussia Monchengladbach.

 • Fabrizio Romano updates on Nicolas Jackson's future at Chelsea
 • Man Utd serious about signing Rafael Leao
 • The Holland international has had a miserable time at Gladbach since moving there in the summer of 2012 and has only appeared 13 times in the league this season all as a substitute and only accumulating 85 minutes of action on the pitch.
With Loic Remy only on loan from Queens Park Rangers and Shola Ameobi’s contract running out in the summer the news is that the magpies want to bring the 23 year old in firstly on loan with an option to buy in the summer to beef up their attacking prowess.
Fellow Premier League side Stoke City have also expressed an interest in the former Twente striker but it appears that Newcastle are determined to land him after missing out on him back in 2012.
