Benitez plans Liverpool stay

Benitez plans Liverpool stay

19 November 2007 - 21:30

Liverpool manager Rafa Benitez has rejected speculation that Bayern Munich are chasing him. The Munchen giants have had a less than impressive start this season, and the Spanish coach had been hotly tipped to take over at the Allianz Arena.

  • Enzo Fernandez wants to leave Chelsea
  • Man Utd set to hold contract talks with experienced star
  • According to the reports over the weekend, the German giants had sounded out the Spaniard, who has guided the Reds to two Champions League finals in his last three seasons and winning once.

Nevertheless Benitez has claimed he wants to stay at Anfield for years to come.

"I heard about the rumours at the weekend and it is always flattering to be linked with other big clubs because it must mean you are doing something right," he said on the club’s official website.

"But even if I was approached I would tell whichever club it was that I am really happy with my club, my squad, my supporters and my city.

"There are still many things which I want to do here so I am planning on being here for a long time."
