Manchester United watch Basque trio

07 January 2014 - 15:23

Premier League champions Manchester United are believed to have watched three players in the Basque derby between Real Sociedad and Athletic Bilbao.

  • Chelsea join Liverpool & Man Utd in race to sign 26yo
  • Barcelona identify Arsenal midfielder as key transfer target

  • According to Voetball International, United scout was present at the Anoeta and ran the rule over three players believed to be Bilbao’s Ander Herrera and Sociedad’s Antoine Griezmann and Inigo Martinez.

Herrera was linked with a move to old Trafford last summer but the transfer failed as the clubs on the fee, whereas David Moyes is understood to be impressed with both Griezmann and Martinez having watched them both first hand during this season’s UEFA Champions league matches.

Red Devils currently sit seventh in the Barclays Premier League five points off a Champions League place and will be looking to spend to make sure they do not miss out on Europe’s premier club competition.
