Arsenal are reportedly closing in on their first signing of the January transfer window, according to London Evening Standard.
The Gunners have been informed by Real Madrid that they are open to the transfer of striker Alvaro Morata to the North London outfit on a temporary basis.
Manager Arsene Wenger is keen on adding options to his striking department in January, following injuries to the likes of Theo Walcott and Nicklas Bendtner in recent weeks.
It is understood that after talks between the player's agent and the club, Los Blancos could allow Morata join the Gunners on loan this month for a fee of around 1.5 million pounds.
Arsenal are currently top of the Premier League with 45 points.
