Pele backs Ronaldo for the Ballon d'or

Brazilian legend Pele has come out and backed Cristiano Ronaldo for the Ballon D’or. The Portuguese has been a runner up to Lionel Messi for the past four years.

Having never won the Ballon d’or himself the former world cup winner is in Switzerland to pick a FIFA award.<br />

Speaking to the reporters the 73 year old said,<br />

“The main prize will be Cristiano’s,” <br />

Pele also commented on his accolade saying,<br />

“When I played I was not eligible for the Ballon d’Or [because it was for European players only] and FIFA have decided to honour the only player with three World Cups.<br />

“I think they should give me at least three more to compensate!”
