England international defender Joleon Lescott will attempt to push through a surprise move to Turkish giants Besiktas this week. West Ham were expected to wrap up a deal for the centre back.
Lescott has been frustrated with a lack of first team opportunity under Manuel Pellegrini at Man City and is now thought to be looking for a transfer abroad. With just six months remaining on his existing deal, the player could be allowed to leave for free in this transfer window.
With an upcoming League Cup game against West Ham tonight, Lescott is expected to play some part and this could be his last game for the Citizens.
"After the game my agent will have a meeting with Pellegrini to discuss my future and ask for permission to join another club," Lescott quipped.
"I want to play football and join Besiktas."
