Barca: no winter signings

Barca: no winter signings

20 November 2007 - 22:20

Txiki Begiristain - Barcelona's sporting director - has defended the current crop of players, believing that only a lot of injuries would mean Barcelona would enter the January transfer market.

  • Mikel Arteta insists 27yo star won't be leaving Arsenal
  • Omari Hutchinson wants to continue at Ipswich Town

  • Begiristain said: "We have full confidence in our squad and we hope that between now and January no inuries take place that compel us to think otherwise."

He added that he anticipated "nothing" happening during the winter window otherwise.

"Experience tells us that it's a very bad market to move in," he explained.

Barcelona's away form has been dreadful of late, but Txiki is confident that the return of the likes of Deco, Samuel Eto'o and Jose Edmilson can help the Catalan side.
