Chelsea are set to battle it out with Manchester United for the services of Southampton full-back Luke Shaw during the winter transfer window.

According to the Mirror, the Blues have joined the race for Shaw's signature following United's reported £22m move to bring the talented defender to Old Trafford.

Manager Jose Mourinho is understood to be keen on landing Shaw in the next few days, as a long-term replacement for Ashley Cole, with the player fuelling the speculation that his days are numbered at the South Coast club following a tweet he sent to a fan.

The reports also reveals that the Red Devils boss David Moyes is winning the transfer battle as of now, having offered the defender the chance to feature in the first-team at a regular basis.
