Grenier

Newcastle eye Lyon star

27 January 2014 - 17:31

Premier League club Newcastle United are eyeing a move for Lyon midfielder Clement Grenier. The 23 year old is seen as an ideal replacement for Yohan Cabaye who has been linked with Paris Saint-Germain, Arsenal and Manchester United.

  • Mauricio Pochettino confirms fresh injury blow for Chelsea star
  • Arsenal want to make four marquee signings this summer

  • Grenier who generally plays in the same position can also play on the right wing as well as behind the central striker.

Some reports suggest that the Magpies have put in a bid of 13 million Euros and that has been rejected by Lyon.

Grenier is contracted with Lyon till 2016 and was also linked with a move in the summer too but the club managed to hold on to their prized midfielder. It is also unlikely that the three times capped French international will move clubs with just six months left for the world cup.

Newcastle have also been linked with Remy Cabella of Montpellier as a replacement for Cabaye should he leave.
