Will Arsenal sign Dimitar Berbatov?

27 January 2014 - 23:07

With the winter transfer window coming to a close, Arsenal are yet to make any attempt in signing a top-class player, in order to cement their chances of landing the Premier League title come the end of the campaign.

  • Chelsea & Arsenal handed blow in Bundesliga striker pursuit

  • Latest reports have suggested that the Gunners are interested in bringing highly talented Schalke star Julian Draxler to the club before transfer deadline day.

However, a deal looks unlikely to come through in the winter, with managers on either parties denying speculation over the transfer.

The question now arises whether Wenger would go for the lottery ticket and make a move for Fulham's star striker in Dimitar Berbatov, who has been linked with a switch to the Gunners since the start of the winter.

The 32-year-old has been in good form for the Cottagers since his transfer from reigning Premier League champions Manchester United in 2012, having notched up 19 league goals in 50 appearances.

It would be reasonable to make an offer for the talented striker who could be available for a bargain price of just £2m , with BBC Sport pundit Mark Lawrenson insisting that the player can only get better in his gameplay, should he make the move to North London in January.
