Newcastle United have turned their attentions to Serbian midfielder Filip Djuricic. The 22 year old plays for Portuguese club Benfica.
Djuricic joined Benfica from Dutch club Heerenveen only last summer in a six million pound deal but is reportedly unhappy with his bit part role at the club. He has only made four league appearances for the club so far this season.
Newcastle on their part have been looking to bring in a midfielder to replace the void left by Yohan Cabaye who was sold to Ligue 1 club Paris Saint- Germain earlier this week. Clement Grenier of Olympique Lyonnais and Remy Cabella of Montpellier had been identified as replacements but both deals are unlikely to go through this January.
Player’s agent has confirmed the Magpies Interest saying,
“It is true about Newcastle, I have been speaking with Alan Pardew this week and so let us see what happens by the end of tomorrow (Friday).”
