Ashley Cole set for MLS switch?

Jose Mourinho hints at Ashley Cole departure

07 February 2014 - 23:46

Chelsea manager Jose Mourinho has admitted that veteran full-back Ashley Cole may leave the West London outfit during the summer,

  • Enzo Fernandez wants to leave Chelsea
  • Man Utd set to hold contract talks with experienced star
  • Cole's contract expires at the end of the current campaign, and is unlikely to earn a new deal with the Blues, as he has struggled to cement his place in the starting lineup so far this season.

With Arsenal Legend Thierry Henry, currently at MLS club New York Red Bulls revealing his eagerness to have Cole playing with him next season, Mourinho hinted that the 33-year-old could make way from the Blues.

"Yes, [Cole] has [got a future at Chelsea], but maybe Thierry has a better proposal." the Portuguese quipped. "Maybe Thierry is doing with Red Bulls the same as David (Beckham) is doing in Miami. Maybe he's buying Red Bulls! I have to ask Thierry Henry."

Ashley Cole has made 333 appearances for the Blues since his move from Arsenal in 2006.
