Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger coy on Robin Van Persie transfer link

11 February 2014 - 12:33

Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger was seemingly coy over the club being linked with a move for former star Robin Van Persie from Manchester United in the summer.

  • Mikel Arteta insists 27yo star won't be leaving Arsenal
  • Omari Hutchinson wants to continue at Ipswich Town

  • The Netherlands international joined United from Arsenal for a fee of £24m during the summer of 2012 and played a main part in helping the Red Devils retain the Premier League crown last season.

However, Van Persie has been associated with a summer exit from the Manchester giants, as he is unhappy with manager David Moyes' tactical setup, which has seen the club slump to seventh place in the league standings this season.

When asked about a possible move for the 30-year-old star, Wenger said: “Look, I don’t think that is an ideal subject for us to treat today.

"Robin van Persie is a great player - we know that.

“I think it is best we don't talk about it at the moment.”

Arsenal take on United at the Emirates on Wednesday night.
