Man Utd in race for Sporting Lisbon left-back

19 February 2014 - 12:36

Manchester United are set to face a tough fight from the Serie A for the services of Sporting Lisbon defender Rojo in the summer.

  • Mikel Arteta insists 27yo star won't be leaving Arsenal
  • Omari Hutchinson wants to continue at Ipswich Town

  • The 23-year-old left-back has caught the eye of the Red Devils boss David Moyes in recent weeks, and is reportedly considering a summer swoop for the Argentine international.

According to Portuguese newspaper A Bola, Serie A clubs in Roma, Inter Milan and Juventus have also been tracking the player's performances and are likely to provide stiff competition to the Red Devils.

However, Roma are understood to be on the front foot and are keen on landing Rojo's signature for a fee of around £6.5m before the World Cup finals in Brazil.
