French defender Bacary Sagna has told Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger that he wants a new three year contract to stay at the Emirates and a massive payrise from £75,000 a week to a bumper deal worth approximately £100,000.
Amidst news of interest from Premier League rivals Man City and Chelsea, Sagna has been linked with a move away from Arsenal. However, the Gunners are hoping to keep hold of the French international who is widely regarded as one of the best full backs not just in England but in the world.
With his contract expiring in the summer, Sagna has already expressed some concern that Arsenal have been unable to match reported offers from abroad, but Arsene Wenger's strict contract policy at Arsenal could yet cost the player a fresh deal.
Sagna is well aware that, as he reaches the final years of his career, he needs to secure one more final lucrative deal.
