Arsenal make enquiry for AC Milan midfielder

07 March 2014 - 23:17

Arsenal have reportedly shown interest in AC Milan midfielder Riccardo Montolivo, according to his agent.

  • Mauricio Pochettino confirms fresh injury blow for Chelsea star
  • Arsenal want to make four marquee signings this summer

  • The talented defender has been linked with the likes of Borussia Dortmund and Atletico Madrid in recent weeks and the Daily Express reveals that the Gunners have joined the race for the services of the former Fiorentina star.

AC Milan have had a torrid season in the Serie A, and with the club unlikely to be in the Champions League next campaign, Montolivo could search for pastures elsewhere as per his agent Giovanni Branchini.

"Milan have had a difficult season so far and I think I can say that Riccardo Montolivo has been one of the brightest notes." He said. "He became a fixture of the Rossoneri and was even given the captain's armband as proof. He is very happy with the club to which he belongs, and the club and fans are very satisfied with him. "

"Has there been interest from other clubs? There have been tentative enquiries from Atletico Madrid, [Borussia Dortmund manager Jurgen] Klopp and Arsenal, to name a few. "
