Manchester City are inching closing to the signing of Porto defender Eliaquim Mangala, according to French daily Le 10 Sport.

The centre-back failed to join the Citizens during the winter transfer window, as the Mancunian giants failed with a late bid.

 

According to the report, City boss Manuel Pellegrini is prepared to make a summer offer in the region of £37m, which would trigger Mangala's transfer release.

 

Manchester United have also been linked with a move for the Porto star, with the imminent departure of club captain Nemanja Vidic at the end of the season.
