27 November 2007 - 10:31

Steve Bruce has said that the future is 'really bright' for Wigan Athletic. Bruce has signed a long-term deal with Wigan since joining Birmingham on a four-year contract.

  • Arsenal leading race to sign Belgian midfielder

  • Bruce told the official website: "I am looking forward to managing this club in the Premier League for many years to come. I think we can make an impact at this level and I would never have come back if I didn't believe entirely that this was a club that is going places.

"I have studied the strengths and weaknesses of the squad, and the ambition of the Chairman is there for all to see.

"I am an ambitious man myself, and I want to manage this club in the higher reaches of the Premier League. I see no reason why I can't be the one to really establish Wigan Athletic at this level for many years to come.

"The transformation of the club has been nothing short of extraordinary over the past few years, and I can see the development myself from the time I was here.

"This is a young club, a growing club and the future is really bright."
