Queens Park Rangers have sent scouts to monitor the progress of South African centre back Eric Mathoho. The 24-year-old is highly rated in his homeland, where he plays for Kaizer Chiefs.

Queens Park Rangers have already begun their busy summer of transfer moves and Mathoho is at the top of manager Harry Redknapp's list.

Since making his debut at international level, he has been widely tipped to become one of the continent's best defenders. Ajax are also believed to be closely monitoring the player.
