Former England international Michael Owen has insisted that the Argentine national side are the front-runners to win the World Cup this summer, given the excellent form of their forwards in Lionel Messi and Sergio Aguero.
Owen feels that the South American side would get over their defensive frailties and earn their third World Cup crown in the summer.
"I believe Argentina are favourites. They have good players throughout the team, but Sergio Aguero and Lionel Messi just tip it," He said. "It will be extremely difficult to stop these two players from scoring. Argentina are more or less in their own backyard and they are used to the altitude and weather.
"The team have some defensive concerns, but Argentinians are typically streetwise. I honestly believe they have more quality than the other nations."
Argentina are favourites to reach the knock-out stages from Group F as they face Iran, Nigeria and Bosnia and Herzegovina.
