Former German international Michael Ballack has revealed that he is surprised by how Mesut Ozil has been treated in recent weeks.

Ozil has come under constant pressure over the past few months for his performances with Arsenal as well as the German national side.

However, Ballack believes that the former Real Madrid star is due for a big one at the World Cup, and considers him to be an 'extraordinary' player.

"Yes, he has not had a overwhelmingly good match at the World Cup until now but he did not disappoint me either. He needs a magic moment, he must force this moment to happen." Ballack said.

Germany face-off against USA in their final Group G fixture tomorrow.
