Arsenal are reportedly set to make a mega-offer to sign Juventus star Arturo Vidal this summer, according to the Metro.

Manager Arsene Wenger is understood to be keen on signing a top-class midfielder during the summer transfer window, as he aims to find a potential replacement for Mikel Arteta, who has been linked with a switch to Athletic Bilbao.

Manchester United were considered as front-runners to sign the Chilean international in recent weeks, but the 27-year-old is unlikely to consider a move to a club that will not compete in the Champions League next season.

The Metro claims that the Gunners are ready to take advantage of the player's uncertainty at Juventus, and make a club-record bid of around £44m for his signature in the next few days.
