Chelsea close to Tiago Mendes capture?

Chelsea are reportedly closing in on the signing of midfielder Tiago Mendes on a free transfer this summer, according to The Star.

Having already sealed a deal for star striker Diego Costa from the Spanish champions, the Blues are now ready to complete Tiago's free transfer to Stamford Bridge.

The talented defender left the Blues in the summer of 2005, following a season at the club under manager Jose Mourinho. Latest reports reveal that the 33-year-old could sign for the West London club in the next few days.

Chelsea are also interested in signing Filipe Luis from the Basque club.
