Ashley Cole to move to AS Roma?

Former England international left back Ashley Cole is a surprise transfer target for Italian giants AS Roma. The Serie A side's manager Rudi Garcia is looking for a left sided defender and the thought of acquiring the former Chelsea star on a free transfer seems to be difficult to resist.

Ashley Cole has been linked with a host of different next career moves, with Major League Soccer also proving to be an option for the former Gunners left back; whilst Galatasaray were also believed to have contacted the defender.

Despite that interest, Cole is known to favour a move to one of Europe's more illustrious leagues, such as Serie A or La Liga. 

Roma are now therefore in pole position to wrap up a deal for the experienced defender and will offer Cole a reported 150,000 Euros a week on a two year contract.
