Chelsea monitoring Benfica youth duo

Chelsea manager Jose Mourinho has sent his top scout Piet De Visser to monitor young Benfica duo Joao Filipe and Joao Virginia. The Blues' have been linked with a 15 million euro transfer bid for the Portuguese duo.

  • The Blues, who have a track record for spending top dollar and bringing in the best talent for their youth squad, have been in contact with Benfica representatives already regarding a potential move for both. Joao Filipe, who is already being labelled "the next Cristiano Ronaldo" and Joao Virginia, considered by many to be one of the best young goalkeeping prospects of all time; are also being tracked by the likes of Man Utd, Liverpool and Arsenal.

    According to the Express, the coveted duo are amongst the most highly rated young players in their country and Chelsea are hopeful that by securing their signings early, they will have already guaranteed a successful future for the next decade with a team built around the two players.

    Jose Mourinho and club owner Roman Abramovich have already sat down and discussed how best to develop Chelsea's youth academy and part of their long term strategy is to buy quality young talent from all over the world.
