Ferdinand to QPR a done deal?

Ferdinand might accept his free transfer

Ferdinand to QPR a done deal?

14 July 2014 - 14:49

Queens Park Rangers will look to complete their move for Rio Ferdinand on a free transfer this week.

  • Chelsea ready to sell four home-grown players
  • Predicted Chelsea line-up (4-2-3-1) vs Aston Villa, Palmer starts

  • The Manchester United veteran defender is a free agent following his release from the Red Devils last month.

But the move has been shrouded in doubt over wage differences. However, QPR's manager Harry Redknapp believes he can still lure Ferdinand to Loftus Road and is hoping to finalise the deal this week when the 35-year-old returns from Brazil after completing his role as a BBC World Cup analyst.

Meanwhile, management at Loftus Road have agreed a £4.78 million deal in principle for Ajax striker Kolbeinn Sigthorsson.

Redknapp needs to bolster his squad ahead of next season following their promotion from the Championship.

Rangers have made Sigthorsson a wage offer and are still waiting to hear back from the 24-year-old striker.

The striker has scored 24 league goals for Ajax in the previous three seasons, and notched 15 times in 23 international appearances for Iceland.
