The talented French international has been constantly linked with a switch to the Gunners in recent weeks, with the club keen on signing a top-class defender to replace Bacary Sagna, who joined Manchester City on a free transfer earlier this summer.

ESPN reports that the North London club are expected to confirm the imminent arrival of the 28-year-old, with Newcastle United edging closer to the signing of Feyenoord defender Daryl Janmaat.

Arsenal are also believed to have agreed a fee with Real Madrid over the transfer of German star Sami Khedira.
