Southampton plot move for Aston Villa defender Ron Vlaar

Southampton manager Ronald Koeman has admitted that he is considering a move for the Netherlands' star defender Ron Vlaar. Currently playing for Aston Villa, the centre back is reportedly ready to quit his club for a fresh start.

Vlaar, who joined from Feyenoord back in 2012, has yet to reproduce the same form at Villa Park that attracted the interest of numerous teams at this summer's World Cup tournament. 

The defender is apparently available for transfer and Southampton's manager Koeman is considering a move.

The newly appointed manager told reporters: "Ron would definitely be an option. Although I think he won’t be cheap right now. Well, let’s just wait and see."
