The Red Devils boss Louis van Gaal has been ringing in the changes this summer, having already purchased the likes of Ander Herrera and Luke Shaw from Athletic Bilbao and Southampton respectively.

Latest reports reveal that the former Netherlands manager is keen on a reunion with de Jong, who had an excellent spell with the Dutch during the World Cup finals in Brazil.

It is understood that the Red Devils' hierarchy are willing to offer as much as £10m in order to seal a deal for the former City midfielder.
