The Argentina international has been linked with a switch to the Premier League over the past week, with Chelsea considered favourites to land his signature.

Saints boss Ronald Koeman is understood to be keen on rebuilding his depleted squad, having already sold five players to league rivals this summer.

According to The Independent, the South Coast club have opened up the bidding war by tabling an offer for the 24-year-old. 

Rojo has made 49 appearances for Sporting since his move from Spartak Moscow in the summer of 2012.
