The 28-year-old, who missed out on this summer's World Cup finals in Brazil, has been linked with a summer exit from the Ligue 1 giants, with European Champions Real Madrid interested in his services.

However, Italian journalist Mina Rzouki has claimed that the player could either join Liverpool or Manchester City in the summer, with the former considered to be leading the chase.

Reds boss Brendan Rodgers is believed to be keen on signing a top-class striker, following the departure of star striker Luis Suarez to Barcelona earlier this summer.
