Aston Villa manager Paul Lambert looks all set to make an audacious bid for Manchester United’s out-of-favour midfielder Tom Cleverley.

  • Juventus and Napoli enter race for Chelsea winger
  • Felix Nmecha linked with Chelsea move
  • The English international has been asked to look for a move away from Old Trafford by newly appointed manager Louis van Gaal, who is looking to rebuild the side after last year’s disappointing seventh place finish in the league and the 25-yrear-old looks certain to be on his way out before the current transfer window closes on 1st September.

According to reports in Sky Sports, the Lions have prepared a £8 million bid for the player as Lambert hopes to strengthen the squad at Villa Park.

Cleverley joined the Red Devils’ youth system as an11-year-old boy in 2000, and moved to the senior side in 2009, where he spent his first two and a half years on loan to Leicester City, Watford and Wigan Athletic.

He made his competitive debut for United in 2011, and has since then played 78 games for the Premier League side.

He can prove to be a huge signing for the Claret and Blues this season, but they face competition from rivals Everton and Hull City, who are also in the market for the player.
