The England international is considered surplus to requirements at Old Trafford, following the arrival of high-profile signings in Ander Herrera and Angel di Maria this summer.

According to Sky Sports, the 25-year-old's stay at the Mancunian giants could be limited, with Valencia having entered the fray by making an offer for his services.

Aston Villa are also understood to be monitoring the transfer situation.
