Alexandre Lacazette is the latest French player to have been linked with a move to Newcastle United and it is understood Alan Pardew's side have had a 10 million euro bid rejected by Lyon.
The talented young attacker is one of chief scout Graham Carr's top transfer targets for the summer but it is understood a bid has been rejected by Lyon. Newcastle have been told to forget a move for the striker as he is far too important to the Ligue 1 side.
The Toon Army had been hoping to sign Loic Remy but the Frenchman instead decided to move to Chelsea, therefore Newcastle switched their attentions to a move for Lacazette instead.
It is back to the drawing board for Newcastle now though, who are hoping to sign a striker before the transfer deadline.
