Real Sociedad's winger Sergio Canales could be set to join Aston Villa. The Villa Park outfit have been in talks with the La Liga side regarding a loan move, which was quickly rejected. Now Paul Lambert's team have made a transfer bid of 4 million euros for the player.

The 23-year-old could join Villa alongside Man Utd player Tom Cleverley, who reportedly is on his way to Birmingham right now to discuss a move to Lambert's side.

The winger has been blighted with injuries since his move to Sociedad despite only joining them back in January of this year. Villa are expected to be one of several Premier League teams who will be busy before the transfer deadline this evening.

Agents have been in talks with Paul Lambert most of the morning and Villa are expected to complete most of their transfer activity in the coming three hours.
