Former Manchester United assistant manager Mike Phelan feels that his old club have lost some of their identity after the sale of Danny Welbeck. The forward joined rivals Arsenal yesterday on transfer deadline day, with the 23 year old having come through the ranks from an early age.
Phelan said: "Someone like a Danny Welbeck has been part of United's identity and that has been broken. "What will happen in the future now, nobody knows but that thread has been broken now. "
