Martin Demichelis feels match against Bayern Munich will be an exciting one

Bayern Munich a good test: Demichelis

16 September 2014 - 20:36

Manchester United defender Martin Demichelis feels their game against Bayern Munich would be the perfect test of ability for his side.

  • Mauricio Pochettino confirms fresh injury blow for Chelsea star
  • Arsenal want to make four marquee signings this summer

  • The Premier League’s reigning champions will take on the Bundesliga winners in the first leg of their Champions League group stage tie at the Allianz Arena on Wednesday. The Bavarians, who won the European tournament in 2013, are being considered the frontrunners to lift the trophy once again this year, and Demichelis believes playing the German giants this early into the season will give the Citizens an idea of where they currently stand and will help them improve their game further. But the player is sure that his side are prepared for the challenge, insisting that the game will be played between two evenly balanced sides. “Playing Bayern now is the best way of being able to see the level that we're at”, the 33-year-old was quoted as saying by UEFA’s official website. “Bayern are as usual one of the favourites to win the competition and we’ll see on Wednesday where we are and what we still have to improve upon. “I’m expecting an even game between two teams that have similar qualities”, he continued. “Both are good in possession, both want to play attacking football and don’t sit back. I’m very excited for the game.” Manuel Pellegrini’s team have not had the best start to the new season, having managed seven points out of 12 so far, and are currently placed fifth in the league table.
