Sunderland are understood to be keen on extending the stay of striker Connor Wickham at the club, according to Goal.com
The 21-year-old had been heavily associated with a switch away from the Black Cats this summer with West Ham United interested in his services.
A report from Goal.com now claims that manager Gus Poyet is keen on signing up the talented striker to a long-term contract, given he would be available to leave the Wearside club on a free transfer next summer.
Wickham is yet to score for the Black Cats this season.
