Sven accepts Irelands red

Sven accepts Ireland's red

10 December 2007 - 00:05

Sven Goran Eriksson has accepted that the red card given to Stephen Ireland in the 2-1 loss to Tottenham was fair. Ireland was given a straight red card for a late two-footed lunge on Lee Young-Pyo.

  • Enzo Fernandez wants to leave Chelsea
  • Man Utd can finally sign Ederson for huge bargain fee
  • "When I saw it from the bench I thought it was harsh but looking at it in the dressing room I don't think we should complain about it. We should accept it," Eriksson explained.

"I took him in front of the laptop and when we saw it together there was nothing to say. Of course, he apologised and is sorry.

"Stephen Ireland is a young, very good football player, and he will get better and better."
