Arsenal are believed to be mulling over a winter bid for Southampton midfielder Victor Wanyama, according to a report.

The Gunners had been linked with the Kenyan international during his time at Celtic, before he chose to join the Saints last season.

However, it is now understood that the Gunners boss Arsene Wenger is keen on signing a top-class holding midfielder, and Wanyama currently heads the list.

According to The Mail, the player is keen on the transfer and a fee in the region of £15m could be sufficient to strike a deal with the South Coast club.
