The Red Devils boss Louis van Gaal is believed to have been tracking the Italy international over the past few months, and is now ready to make a move for his services.

According to The Mirror, Van Gaal wants to shore up his defensive setup by signing up the 24-year-old, who has the versatility of either playing at right-back or central defence.

Manchester United visit West Bromwich Albion in the Premier League on Sunday.
